'A Minecraft Movie' Digital Release Date

Warner Bros. Pictures is set to release their family-friendly adventure film A Minecraft Movie on digital platforms later this month, arriving on PVOD services on May 20th, 2025. The film has been a box office success since its theatrical release on April 4th, 2025, and fans will soon be able to enjoy the blocky adventure from home.

A Minecraft Movie brings the beloved video game to life with a star-studded cast led by Jason Momoa as Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison and Jack Black as Steve, the iconic "expert crafter" from the game. The film follows four misfits who are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into a bizarre cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master this world while embarking on a quest with Steve's unexpected guidance.

Directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre) from a screenplay by Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, and Neil Widener, the film features an ensemble cast including Sebastian Hansen as Henry, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Jennifer Coolidge. The movie successfully captures the iconic blocky aesthetic of the Minecraft universe while creating an engaging adventure for both fans of the game and newcomers alike.

Critics have given the film mixed reviews, with praise for the performances of Momoa and Black, who are described as "unhinged to the point where it works."
